  • Staff Accountant

    We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Accounting Department to prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and prepare monthly financial reports.  The Staff Accountant will provide support to ensure all transactions are accurately and completely posted to the firm’s general ledger.  The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Controller and play an integral part in developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.  In addition, the Staff Accountant will assist in firm-wide projects as needed, including but not limited to system implementations and updates and business process reviews.

    The ideal candidate will bring two to five years related experience at a public accounting firm or another law firm.  Big 4 experience and/or law firm accounting experience are highly preferred.  We are also seeking candidates with an in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Active CPA license is a plus.

    Primary duties include:

    • Prepare and review reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts during monthly close
    • Support month-end and year-end financial statement close process
    • Prepare month-end Balance sheet reconciliations with required supporting documentation
    • Work with the CFO and Controller to prepare and review documents requested as part of the firm’s annual financial statement review
    • Liaise with CFO  and Controller to improve financial procedures

    • We are seeking a Trainer to join our Professional Development Department to collaborate with our IT Department, Professional Development Manager, IP Trainer, Practice Group Leaders, and Senior Managers to plan and adapt training to specific needs of attorneys, other timekeepers, and non-legal staff.

    Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.  The ideal candidate will be able to function within a fast-paced environment with competing demands.  Candidates must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.  Microsoft certification for Office 2010 at the Expert (Word, Excel) or Master level will be considered a significant plus. 

    Primary duties include:

    • Assisting with developing and maintaining training curricula, course descriptions, class schedules, evaluation criteria, learning paths, and attendance records using the firm’s learning management system; and
    • Delivering instruction to firm personnel in the use of software applications developed or customized by the firm’s IT staff. Instruction may include in-classroom, web- or video-conference sessions, special desk-side training/support for certain individuals, preparation of reference guides, or creation/modification of slideshows/videos/animations.
